Everything is fully working in APM. with the flying code loaded and appears to be flight capable. 6 position Mode control set up in cli using two switches was no problem...
Now I'm trying to use x-plane simulation, this problem only appears with HIL code loaded for use, ie the sim Code loads ok, link with sim ok, manual control on tx is working in x-plane.
Problem is that the cli is not working when hil code is loaded (showing port problem) with garbage scrolling down cli. Is this a common problem? seen it before?
APM ver 1.4, latest x-planes in demo mode, latest mission planner ver:1.0.38 ...
Have also tried in an old mission planner, same result.
This isnt an x-plane issue, connecting cli to the apm is what fails, reporting port problem.
Using standard 115200 baud rate and the right port
Problem is, is that atm I can't set up and features that require the cli...

Permalink Reply by Jim Phoenix on August 1, 2011 at 12:50pm I had the same problem last night, using a spare APM with ADC 2.0.037 loaded, I loaded HIL sim code into it with the MP and the code loaded in OK, but then the planner (1.0.47) just hung when I clicked setup. I was able to connect X-plane running on my mac to the planner running on my PC, but without a config, no commands were sent. I got data link between the two PC's, but without the radio configured, there's no hope of getting the HIL sim to work.
It was working fine two weeks ago with exactly the same setup, so I think something broke in the planner that fails to allow setup after code-loading. Eventually, the PC stopped recognizing the com port.
After re-booting the PC, I reloaded ADC 2.0.038 and setup ran fine, all works normal. Just no HIL sim code setup capability for some reason. I also updated the planner yesterday, I normally click that update planner button every day anyhow.

Permalink Reply by Peter Chaffe on August 1, 2011 at 1:19pm Jim, A reboot worked for me but not until I reloaded the apm flight code (as if it was a new pcb) Then loading the hil code, things worked ok again...

Permalink Reply by Jim Phoenix on August 1, 2011 at 7:56pm Tried it again this evening, initially same problem as described above - but then after reloading HIL code, I clicked on APM Setup - Beta and it took me to a new radio setup window that I've not seen before. I used the controls in that window (has a series of tabs) to set up the Futaba and now it works perfectly. I'm sure that is a new thing that's documented somewhere in the wiki that I failed to read - but it works great!
