I changed the subject of this discussion to a basic platform information exchange. I am planning on using the Hobby-Lobby Senior Telemaster as the platform for my UAV project. It's large wingspan and low wing loading, will allow heavier payloads, such as cameras and transmitter hardware. It has a large payload area and good access. The biggest problem I have is that the Senior Telemaster isn't readily available at this time(I've had mine on back-order since May 10th, and it's reported availability isn't until late July!). The Hobby-Lobby forum reports that the vendor is having trouble sourcing materials to complete the product. Personally I have made numerous phone calls to distributors of Hobby-Lobby kits searching without success, E-bay was the same I was a day late and a dollar short, an ARF was available 3 days earlier and sold for $81, as compared to $210 from Hobby-Lobby!

Anyone who has owned a Senior Telemaster is encouraged to share their photos, videos, and personal experiences here.

BTW that's not me! Stock picture from Hobby-Lobby web site!

Specs:94" wingspan, 64" long, 1330 sq. in. wing area (Stab area 320 sq. in.), 10 lbs. 8 oz. flying weight

My Senior Telemaster Plus arrived today. Yeah Baby! Thie bird is HUGE, and very light. Its seems well constructed. I'm noticing some minor items that need to be done like finishing some glue points and tightening the covering. Other than that its very nice. They put strings in at the aileron servo holes so you can pull the wires from the wing roots. Nice touch. No complaints here. The landing gear is nice and mounts to 4 points on the fuse bottom. It has a spring for shock absorbtion too. I tink I will start a blog to show everyone here, and to post some pictures. Since I dont have time to build, the $350 for the prebuild was worth it. Stay tuned!

I was aware Tele isnt Sig. I was asking if the Sig's were still available in ARF. The quality and colors looked very nice to me. But I think they are discontinued........I really like the Tele with 6" wheels, and since its available in the plus model, i just may pick it up.

Thanks

Erik

I was just curious if anyone had images and maybe even some measurements of the fuselage interior of the Senior Telemaster Plus? I am really interested as to its dimensions compared to the regular Senior Telemaster.

Thanks,

-Stephen

i will post some tonight..i very very large internally.

Here are some pictures of the Senior Telemaster Plus. You can see there is no wing saddle. The wings are mounted to the sides of the fuselage using a fore and aft aluminum spar. The horizontal stab is mounted in the same manner. The wings and stabb are held in place with hex bolts on the bottom of the surface. The wings are also held in place by the wing struts. The "plus" comes with to access hatches. One behind the engine firewall and the other behind the undercarriage. The bottom door also has an option to mount a drop box. I chose to cutout some of the monokote on the fuse behind the wing trailing edge. The top compartment will hold my APM and the side compartment is for access to the APM to download data. I will hinge the doors and hold them shut with magnets. The top compartment behind the firewall is also held in place with magnets. As you can see the size of the fuselage leaves a tremendous amount of room to mount just about anthing.
Awesome, thanks for the pictures! You're right, much more room than a regular Senior (which is tough to get lots of payload into, I discovered).
if you need actual measurements let me know. Im also going to mount my camera and wireless video just aft of the windscreen.

the best thing about this plane is i didnt have to build it. its a matter of rigging and mounting equipment. it was worth the price for me as i really dont care to build anymore.

Actually, measurements would be great, if you have the time to do that! In particular, the hatch stock hatch dimensions, depth and width of the fuse under and behind the wing, and of the front battery/fuel tank compartment. It would be very much appreciated!

Thanks,

-Stephen

sorry for the late reply. hatch dims are 5"L x 4"W x 4"D. but thats really only the entrance to the interior. under the wing you have over 6" of height, 14" of length and over 5" of width. see attached pictures. i also am showing the rear access areas i created, and my video, esc, and engine installation. the plane is ready for her maiden flight!!!!

ps. still need to bundle my wires under the hood.

Cool, thanks a bunch! Definitely helps.
