Has anyone tried using a smartphone for aerial imagery collection? They have a battery, camera, storage, and transmitter built into a fairly rugged and compact package....

You certainly would not be using these images for GIS or anything seriuos... Image quality is nowhere near a Go-Pro.
But then again, there are threads on here which discuss using keychain cameras!
But the again, those posts don't mention comparing a GoPro.
I was quietly impressed with the way Photoshop stitched together the pics from my iPhone. Low resolution but clear enough. Let me know if you want more info.

Season Two of the Trust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.
