I've been using cheap and nasty 9g servos for my mount, one came from sparkfun, one from HK, others elsewhere. Anyway, I'm now 3 for 3 in having stripped the gears in them, they don't seem up to the task.
I'd like to get a feel for what actually works. Who makes tough servos? What are you guys using?
Cheers,
Chris

Permalink Reply by Dave on April 1, 2012 at 3:47am You must buy metal geared servos! emax es08md are what I use and they are fine. bought from giantcod (in the UK).
Permalink Reply by Christopher Cooper on April 1, 2012 at 8:52pm Thanks Dave, I'll give these a go. I can get two of these shipped to Australia for just a bit more than one HS-65MG will cost me from HK.
Permalink Reply by Christopher Cooper on April 28, 2012 at 7:31am I swear my quad is cursed! Got two of these servos and installed them in my shiny new camera mount: http://quadframe.com/collections/frontpage/products/g01k
One of them failed before I even got off the ground! Burnt out ir something, it twitches, gets really hot and causes the APM to brown out. I'll see if I can get a replacement out of Giantcod. So that's 4 servos my quad has eaten now.
I guess what you pay for. This time I'll bite the bullet and get some Hitec servos.
