  • Anyone from Melbourne Australia help me update my 9X firmware? I've just got the TX and have little experience with soldering (Dont want to destroy it). Hoping I could offer $50 for an upgrade around Victoria Melbourne area to update it for me to ER9X firmware?

    Much appreciated for you time.

Folks - a friend of mine need some basic help with some aerial footage of a property down near the peninsula in the next couple of weeks.

Does anyone have any capacity in the next week or so to help out?

Please PM me if you do.

  • Hey Melbourne gang, I've been spending many hours doing some remote flying via joystick using the ground control trailer, Mission Planner and FBWB mode, with RFD900 long range radio.

Here is a vid of my setup

And here it is in action. Sorry about the wobbly video, it's straight from my iphone unedited.

I've got 5 weeks off work coming up in May. I hope that the next vid I post will be this bad boy flying.

Time for a catchup? I found a great spot in Clunes VIC. Perfect for planes and quads. HEAPS of km of open council land. Great visibility to test long range flights. I'll be flying here again tomorrow all day if anyone wants to come up. All welcome. PM me.

  • Hi All

Just wanted to share an amazing shopping experience when buying a new FrSky Taranis Plus Radio the other day.

I bought it from Dragon RC. http://www.dragonrc.com.au  They are an online store, but you can arrange pickup from their warehouse, I think in Noble Park.

Anyway... the advertised price was $333 for the version with an aluminimum case, battery pack, and AU wall charger (no Rx included).  When I went to the checkout it only charged me about $313.90.  Factoring in the $19 postage it came back to around the $333 mark so I figured that explained things - turns out it should have cost $353.90 with shipping.

I got an email explaining that because it was a bug at their end they were happy to honour the price I had already paid, and they shipped it out immediately.  It turned up next business day with Aus Post express.  I'm very happy with this, please check out what they have to offer.

  • Meet up. Hi there. Any chance we could organise a meet up some time in January. I have a property North East of Melbourne and would consider that as a location some time. Casual or more formal. I have my big 28" prop X4 I built for Antarctica to demonstrate, if people are interested. Also here an 3DR X8.

  • Nice work David.

My owner builder project in Clunes is finished, so I'm 100% back into drones of the aeroplane variety!!!

Hoping to do a remotely operated flight from the ground control trailer this weekend. (flying a plane 2km away via joystick, using RFD900 modules)

    Time for a catchup?

  • Too busy surfing!

But making an effort to finally finish off my drone beast..

I need motivation to finish mine off. Setting some time aside tonight.

Awesome project you did there... perhaps the next thing to do is a 250 'snake hunter killer quad' :D

    Hey guys.

So we've all been a little quiet - working on interesting things I hope.

The last month I have been working on an autonomous boat project and also did the T3 challenge (delivery drone), where I just submitted my entry.  Check out the entry here.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas and flys safely!

  • Given I have to work on cup day, Deakin can pay me to fly here! Yay! ;)

Ok guys - so after an aborted attempt to meet up at the beginning of the month, it looks like next Tuesday - Melbourne Cup Day - could be a winner.  A few people have said that they're interested in flying so let's lock it in.

Location is Deakin Uni for a 10:00 start.

Please let me know if you're planning to attend in case the weather turns bad or we need to relocate for whatever reason.

Looking forward to seeing people there!

    Cheers,
    David.
