Hello - I'm currently testing my first Pixhawk hexacopter build. I attempted to fly a waypoint mission yesterday that was a huge fail. When I initiated auto takeoff the unit lifted about 3 feet, flew 6 feet forward and nosedived int the ground. I have determined that it was most likely a conflict with the takeoff altitude setting (30FT) and the home altitude (33FT) It was in absolute mode so it way trying to fly 3 feet underground. What is the best practice to insure that the unit always sees the takeoff point as 0FT? Should I set the home location absolute altitude to 0? Also what does the Set Home Alt button do?

No, Absolute Alt is above sea level. When you create a mission be certain to use Relative Alt, not Absolute. Relative Alt will automatically be set to Zero when you Arm the aircraft.
