Profile Information

About Me:
Have been designing and building my own airplanes for about 8 years, and now that I'm in college (The Cooper Union: for the Advancement of Science and Art in Manhattan) I finally have a chance, and the resources, to pursue serious UAV research. I've developed a few of my own surveillance platforms thus far, with focus on VTOL technologies and rapid deployment systems. PM me, I love discussing aircraft design and applications.

Guardian 2.0-Fast Response UAV

Posted on January 12, 2009 at 6:00pm 20 Comments

With UAVs coming into more widespread service in the armed services and all around us everyday, its becoming harder and harder to find and fill specialized niches of operation, and thats where the Guardian comes in. Designed for close convoy support, The Guardian was designed for near instantaneous deployment in contrast to the Raven which requires hand launch. The goal is to have it launch out of a canister mounted on the side of a convoy vehicle, so in ambush… Continue

I like the swing wing concept. I always wanted to build one :). This is a very original use. Patent it. Quickly. Seriously. I've been searching for a secondary drop craft for an upcoming project, and a similar design looks like it will be it (non rocket powered). Actually...;) ;) ideas

BTW, i live in NY. hit me up sometime.

Julian, hi, hope things are good at your end. Im about to release the CTOL UAV as an open design. The picture on my web page is of a simple high wing CTOL plane. The cost is v low, but im looking for opinions about releasing a cheap opensource airframe for the Openrelief.org development programme. Any thoughts welcome, their seems to be few airframes for development available unless RC airframes are considered.
