"We chose multirotors for development to eliminate take off and landing distance requirements, allow precision, autonomous on off function of the spray, and to eliminate the turns at the end of each pass. When it is all said and done, any system is a…"
"We have tried all of the above over the years, including a car top release scheme. I much prefer to design from the start for hand launch. A competent, experienced launcher is a real plus. Our students graduate and move on so it seems I am always…"
"I guess not.....looks like a conventional bungee system. Cold weather renders those surgical tubing bungees completely useless. They also age quickly. My experiece shows replacement every 4 months or 30 launches may be needed. Below 50 degrees, no…"
"Currently, they are long on promises and short on results, I won't name names but am familiar with 3 firms, nationally and internationally that fit that description. In all fairness, they are self admittedly development companies. I see farmers…"
"The key to spraying will be the software that turns the product on and off using autonomous detection, ( color, NDVI,etc.)or preloaded maps, based on current aerial photos. We are going to begin that work this Fall at Purdue University specific to…"
"That would be difficult to estimate. Many of the firms have been around for decades using satellite and aerial photos from light aircraft but are considering/developing in-house UAS capability. They already have the contacts in the farming community…"
"3days into tech service at 3dr, 1 email a day from them. The latest was a suggestion that I try live calibration.....are you kidding me? I had planned to spend $25K with them this year, now I am exploring options. Hey, anyone reading this know the…"
"A manual reset cured all the problems with the compass. I performed a complete calibration including compassmot in terminal setup. Power interference is 5% and offsets are all under 20. I had a good compass, it just wasn't able to communicate…"
"Monocular company stock ownership by key FAA officials? Every reg has loopholes and technology will render the FAA increasingly irrelevant. Gov. Agencies don't like to be irrelevant. I agree with the above statements, FAA, lead, follow, or get…"
Good morning,APM 2.6, 3DR external ublox compass. just sitting on bench right now, new. The compass calibrations goes well with results well within -150 to 150. after calibration, I switch to flight data screen and heading remains North. I understand this is the default for the imu's. The heading does not change when external compass is rotated. I also have bad compass health on all my autopilots and compass combinations. all 5 of them are 3DR purchased in the last year. I have got to…See More
"compassmot values set to zero, calibration done, all -150 to 150, installed third external compass, verified internal compass disabled, still, bad compass health. i want to reso;ve this and document here to help others. "
