Using the Mission Planner DO_JUMP command to loop a Mission

I'm branching out trying to understand all the functions of the Mission Planner so I might better take advantage of it's capabilities. I have been searching for an answer to the question of how to create a mission that will loop either 'X' times, or in this case an infinite number of times, and as of yet I haven't found a concise answer. The two things I find in common with all the references I've found have been the use of the DO_JUMP command and the use of a 'Dummy Way-point'. As I understand…See More

About Me:
R/C Aviator 20+ Years Fixed wing, 2 Years Rotary.....Looking to expand my horizons. Started my interest in robotics with the Basic Stamp 2 Years ago...then moved to Arduino and learing C C++ 1 Year ago, now I am jumping feet first into UAV tech combining my interests. It's all about the challenge and learning!
Tell us a bit about your UAV interest
My primary reason for getting involved with UAV's at DIY Drones is for the technical challenge. However I plan on using my UAV for aerial photography and videography with perhaps eventually a FPV platform.

Acitvity Update

My Senior Telemaster equipped with an Ardupilot Legacy board had an unfortunate incident last year when I got too low in FBW-A Mode and couldn't pull up fast enough to avoid the tree line! Pilot error, I realized too late that all I had to do was switch to Manual. Alas instinct took over and I had a tremendous crash into the trees. Despite the sickening sound if the impact (snap, crash, bang) the Telemaster will fly again someday. (I'm not very ambitious when it comes to rebuilding!)

That derailed my UAV interest for a while and my interest shifted to light weight easy to build profile scratch build foamies! Had a great time building and flying some incredible aircraft from 6mmflyrc.com. It was a nice distraction for the summer, but now I'm back to the UAV community her at DiyDrones and have reequipped myself with a new APM 2.5, uBlox LEA-6, Airspeed sensor, Attopilot 90Amp voltage and current sensor, 3DR 900MHz telemetry, MinimOSD Extra, Maestro contoller for use with an Antenna Tracker. I have also ventured into FPV with the help of ReadyMadeRC.com who supplied all my FPV gear, Fatshark Dominator goggles, Immersion RC 5.8GHz vTX vRx.

I am enjoying all the new challenges and hope to bring a contribution or two to the community. Though I can read and understand the code for the most part, I am definitely not a programmer. What I am good at is devouring the concepts and providing assistance to those who have trouble knowing where to start and or need help clarifying concepts that haven't yet found their way into the wiki.

This year also saw me compete my HAM radio license exam and pass with a General Class license! KD2DEY, doesn't exactly roll off the tongue but hey maybe I'll get a vanity call sign someday! Anyway this will now allow me to operate legally here in the USA on additional frequencies for FPV and RC control. I hope sometime this year to equip my Futaba T8FG radio with a DragonLink UHF 433MHz long range transmitter and move to 1.3GHz band for my FPV system. All in all I'm just having a great time learning and immersing myself in all the new possibilities!

Keep up the great work 3D Robotics and the DiyDrones Community!

Regards,

Nathaniel ~KD2DEY

Hey Nat
I teach Robotics ( VEX and First Robotics) so we use Robotc and labview for programming. I am located in long beach (south of long island). Wind is always a factor down at the beach. I am brand new to flying but building a robot plane was just to freakin cool to pass up. I got my school to pay for some parts because we do use it in school. The kids beg me to go outside every sunny day since we have been ready to fly (2 weeks) but wind and rain have kept us inside. Winds hitting 35mph today.

Enjoy the Senior Telemaster ARF build. I'd be interested to see photos of your autopilot installation. I'd also like to know how you go about trimming and adjusting CG when you start flight testing. I think I had my CG too far aft on the last few flights; plane was stable but needed down elevator trim for level cruise at half throttle, and climbed too steep at full throttle.

Yes, you're right about that!

I do have to remember to be a little more understanding sometimes instead of coming across frustrated.

Rereading a comment is helpful as you say.

I often catch myself often sounding more dry and sarcastic than I mean to.

Hi Nathan,

Thanks for the youtube link ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lE7slObvq_Q
) It certainly looks like that is the technique we need to give my quadriplegic client access to the control system. We did some tests yesterday using an analogue air pressure sensor. He has good control, and wants to use that as a throttle control for his RC race car. (He competes against able-bodied racers at club level.)

The "Balloon Switch" we make http://tecsol.com.au/cms123/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&category_id=7&product_id=39&Itemid=53&vmcchk=1&Itemid=53 has a Pic microprocessor which has lots of spare capacity. I'l like to re-write the software in this to provide the PPM data to the RC transmitter training port.

The key thing I need is electrical and timing specifications for the signal to feed into the port. Whoever made the system in the video clip certainly must know all this!

Cheers, James
