Bryan Davis commented on Patrick McKay's blog post A Drone's View of the Colorado Floods
"Great blog! I Plan on an encore flyover this fall on or about the same date to get aerial of changes to the area. The "feel" of the web about natural disasters and "drone flyovers" is not promising."

Patrick McKay commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Commercial drones are legal in the US, court rules [UPDATE: FAA appeals]
"The FAA trumpets about their appeal staying the decision, but a stay is completely meaningless here. This isn't like the gay-marriage battle in California, where first there was a clear law prohibiting it, then a court ruled that law was…"

Patrick McKay commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Commercial drones are legal in the US, court rules [UPDATE: FAA appeals]
"Now that the FAA is appealing (which will take months, and we probably won't see a final decision by the NTSB Board until the end of the year, when the NPRM is supposedly due), I doubt they will take any further action like trying to make an…"

John DiMiceli commented on Patrick McKay's blog post FOIA Response Reveals FAA Routinely Misrepresents the Law Regarding Unmanned Aircraft

FOIA Response Reveals FAA Routinely Misrepresents the Law Regarding Unmanned Aircraft

Posted on February 4, 2014 at 4:48pm 59 Comments

The FAA has finally provided the first set of documents in response to a FOIA request I filed back in April 2013, requesting copies "of all records related to investigations and enforcement actions related to alleged violations of regulations, rules, policies, or advisory circulars by operators of unmanned aerial systems." After months of delays, excuses, and requesting extensions,…

Loveland Pass FPV Proximity Flying

Posted on September 2, 2013 at 10:46am 0 Comments

Last Saturday I was finally able to do a flight I've been wanting to do pretty much since starting FPV. I took my Deep Reaper flying wing up to the top of Loveland Pass, Colorado for some awesome proximity action along the ridge line above the Arapahoe Basin ski area. Even though the lighting wasn't the best because of the dark clouds and my Deep Reaper isn't…
