RCTimer Brushless Gimbal and Controller

It's amazing how quickly BLGs went from a novelty and costing thousands (zenmuse) to something you can get for $172 shipped!

GoPro Wire Rope Mount with Furniture Coasters

I built this Wire Rope GoPro mount out of a couple of Furniture leg coasters, a Bicycle Brake cable and some electrical brass wire connectors removed from their plastic housing. Test flown this morning and here is the result.

I'm very pleased with the video as I have tried many ways to remove the rolling shutter effect previously and this is by far…

Possible solution to getting Jello Free GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition video on multicopters

I'm sure everyone who is into aerial videgography with the wonderful GoPros have struggled with getting Jello Free (rolling shutter) video footage from multicopters. I have tried them all. Using ND filters to lower the shutter speed of the GoPro (worked somewhat but ruined image quality), shot in 720p @60fps but would have preferred shooting in full HD. Tried all sorts of foam and vibration absorption materials, ear plugs, rubber foam mounts, hours balancing my propellers…

A simple UAV gimbaled servo-controlled camera mount for GoPro

Here's a simple servo-controlled very light GoPro mount for any UAV. I have machine tools to make this, but you might be able to do it with simple home tools. The real trick is a direct connection between the servo and the camera rotator, and to use a control link ball (left side in photo) so you don't need to hit…

Motorcycle Gyro Cam Using APM 2.5

If you have ever watched a motorcycle race on TV you would have seen some fantastic shots taken from the back of bikes. Part of what makes that view so stunning is the realistic view you get of what a rider sees when the bike leans over at high speeds through corners. You may not have noticed that what makes these angles so realistic is that the camera stays level…

3D Mapping With Your Drone

Making a 3D model of something with pictures isn't something new to most of us, but there have been a lot of people getting into drones recently and I wanted to show something useful you can do with your drone. Autodesk's 123D Catch has a very useful feature not everyone knows about; Once you have your 3D…

Another GoPro competitor

I recently noticed these cameras in one of my local stores.  By the looks of it they are basically built along the same lines as the GoPros.  I'm not sure how they compare, but if anyone has any experience with these little cameras, please feel free to post you comments.  You can find more info on their website here: …

Sony and JVC taking on GoPro

JVC and Sony are taking on GoPro with new small HD "action cams". The shape of these will possibly have much better aerodynamics than the GoPro... more in line with Contour's cameras. Notice JVC's is already "quad proof". I'm sure they had quad copter drones in mind. :)
