Joining the DIYDrones community, My hexa build
I have been following DIYDrones for years now, and have gleaned lots from other people's efforts along the way. I recently decided (after finding some cost effective frames on ebay) to get started for myself.
I started the heli hobby 2 years ago with a trex-450 in which i learnt pretty quickly, start small... much smaller than a 450 class heli! Constantly breaking various parts of the 450…

Scout Hexa really stable with Arducopter 2.4.1
I have been working on a hexacopter for aerial videography and photography. The hexacopter is equipped with a ArduPilot Mega with sonar, gps, magnetometer and a camera gimbal. After hours of tuning, I got the Scout Hexa really dialed in.
I really happy with the stability of the Arducopter code. Here is a video demonstrating some of the ArduPilot…

After creating the Arduspyder. We decided to create a real hexa. These are pictures of the making, maiden will be this weekend. Because of the purpose this frame is build for we sadly did not opt for an Arducopter but the frame will take an Ardu, Openpilot CC, Microkopter or any other hexa capable electronics.
The baseplate design in Rhinoceros…

Hexacopter Frame In Progress
I've been throwing around a few ideas for a hexacopter frame and have settled on a aluminum arm and fiberglass plate sandwich type frame (is there a more technical term for it?). The goal is to carry a digital SLR for aerial photography, though I'll work out the camera bits after I get past the basics of just getting it flying. From prop tip to prop tip it will be about 42 inches. The two plates in the middle are about 11.5 inches diameter and will be cut from 1/8th inch thick G10…
