Building the CoffinCopter - Weekly #9
Welcome to another week of fun and excitement. While making this video I thought I might be throwing up in your eyeballs a little too much but ehh I figured you could handle it.
You might have noticed the building of a coffin. Someone made a comment that the BoxCopter wasn’t very pretty. He’s right no prototype ever is and well it’s made out of tupperware.…

I shot a Raccoon - Weekly Video #8
Well, technically, I did shoot him, with a GoPro. Sorry if I got you all upset or excited about animal killing. Back when I was a wee lad my dad told me I could hunt and shoot animals without a gun. After looking at him with my usual blank stare he said,"With a camera." This from the man who asked me how birth control could only cost a…

Disc Golf after Church - Weekly Video #7
This week has been quite busy. I've been making a new app for Destroyinglies.com/Proclaimingllc.com pretty much none stop pulling 14+ hour work days. I'm blessed to work from home so I'm able to help my wife with the babies and pull long working hours. That being said I didn't get to fly very much. Once from the front porch, once from the side of the road on the way…

1.2 Ghz FPV with 2.4Ghz control- Weekly Video #6
Last week(week 5) I tested out a new FPV system using 1.2 GHZ. It works great. The only problem I had was that it was locking out my 2.4GHZ control. So for the video I used my old 72mhz radio. Let's just call it glitch. It glitched me right into a patch of stinging nettles. So I ordered a low pass filter from Readymaderc.com. Then I commenced to building yet…

3D printed quadcopter with detachable arms - Part2: Flight test
The last post I show you pictures of my 3D printed quad. It took me more than thought to test it in flight. The climate and labor, plotted.
Test flight was successful. It flew solid, pretty stable, less noisy than my other models (May…

The BoxCopter Weekly #4
Wednesday, May 8th 2013
My wife made a comment about it taking a long time to assemble the BoxCopter and get into the air. So I figured I'd come up with a new prototype. This is it. A balsa h-copter that can fly with or without a box. Making things lighter and modular made for longer flight times and faster assembly. I did make things more simple but…

3D Printed Quadcopter with detachable arms
I have been working on this model for almost two months. The idea was to create a mid/heavy-lift 3D printed folding/detachable quadcopter. this is the first prototype that I have printed out.
Hope you guys helps me to improve the design. There is a lot of things to do before it's done. For example battery holder, in different alternative…

The BoxCopter Weekly #2
As promised, this is week #2 of the BoxCopter. Grab some coffee, brush your teeth and prepare yourself. You'll probably want to skip brushing your teeth, toothpaste makes coffee taste horrible. (Well, this was supposed to be posted this morning. So we'll just say I was trying to keep the peeps on the other side of earth in mind.)

Madison - BoxCopter weekly #1
A couple members of our family flew up this week to visit for our daughter's birthday. We took them to a few places, one being Port Gamble. We were supposed to take them to Seattle today. But since they are all women they took too long to get ready and only made it to the mall. Leaving me to fly at a park across the street while they shopped for…

The BoxCopter visits the grave.
I found a container called a "Super Stacker" at Target the other day. Needless to say that it is super reenforced. This Box fly's very well, it's also smaller and lighter than the cake container.…

Getting Started
I have been interested in the world of UAVs and quadcopters for some time now, but have never moved much beyond my few single rotor RC helicopters. Back in December, I purchased my first quad, a HeliMax 1SQ to try my hand at flying something other than single rotor helicopters. It is a fun little quad, but very limiting in ability to carry anything. As I am wanting…

BoxCopter on the Hood Canal
I like quadcopter because I can make one out of anything. Aerodynamics aren't a factor when making one of these brute's. I love planes, they are elegant and lots of fun to fly. But they are like women, they are delicate and have requirements to live the life they are designed for. Without an open area you're not gonna fly a plane. A quad can go anywhere and fly in…

An Officer and a Boxcopter
These are a bunch of different flights using the box copters around the olympic peninsula. The most notable is the beach and light house where the movie An Officer and a gentleman was filmed at Fort Worden.

Building the Box - Amphibious Quadcopter
After building and testing my lunch box quad I found a few flaws. The water tight integrity just wasn't reliable. The motor booms were in the water and needed to be raised. The spacing of the motors was disproportionate (too stumpy) causing it to be a bit pitchy.
Enjoy the video and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Also, if you…

The Lunch Box - Test #2
Can't tell you how nice it is to have my copter portable. Being able to throw my backpack in the car whenever my family and I go anywhere is awesome. We parked outside a local coffee shop in Port Townsend today and before we went for a walk I was able to get this flight in. Overall I am very happy with this design. It flies well and makes it easy for me to fly…
