Drone ban coming soon in the UK?

A council in the South West is considering introducing a PSPO in order to ban the use of drones in public places.

it would introduce the prohibition under a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), subject to evidence and a public consultation.

The 2014 Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act introduced PSPOs to help councils tackle anti-social behaviour, defined as anything which local authorities feel may have a ‘detrimental effect’ on the ‘quality of life’ of residents.

This is also to be followed in suit by other Councils over the UK.

The Rule of Precedent dictates legal systems place great value on deciding cases according to consistent principled rules so that similar facts will yield similar and predictable outcomes, and observance of precedent is the mechanism by which that goal is attained.

This is evident with the recent newspaper articles from all other local Councils repeating the same stance.

As the UK is a small country very little space is available for local to fly UAV.

In my view Local Law enforced by local Police will be introduced unless we act now.

Local Law can can only be introduced if we do not complain about the action or intention. It seems that Main government is using local government to make changes without our consent which they can not make at a high level.

I think your title is a little hysterical. PSPO's are local orders that could ban or limit flying in specified public places where it is deemed to be a public nuisance. There is a consultation prior to the introduction of an order which ensures that views can be collected before a ban is introduced. As with so many things on our crowded island it is often the irresponsible minority who have greatest impact on those who fly legally, safely and responsibly.

The future of PSPO's seems to be the subject of much debate. Let us see how many orders are proposed and then introduced, as it maybe the threat of introducing them and the attendant publicity, that does the trick. As well, I wonder if the police have the resources to deal with complaints.

Clickbait.... Not at all. The issue ia all public areas. Parks I agree on and public beaches that are used for holidays etc, sun bathing and community use. The problem is all public areas. In the uk that accounts for vertually anyware to fly. Even safe places away from the public or dog walkers on there evening stroll. May I ask where you fly.". Private land owners are few and far between in the uk for allowing drone use. Do you fly in a drone club in the same field every weekend... That's what will happen here if the local law is passed

I don't see how this could be anything other than a really good thing. Flying drones in parks and beaches is inherently stupid in the first place. I love flying drones but I also like chilling out or taking the dogs for a walk in the parks and the last thing I would want is to have a dozen idiots crashing phantoms around me or into me. I'm surprised it's not already banned. This is clickbait.
