The DC Area Drone User Group had a very successful first fly-in yesterday with 8 members attending and a variety of fixed and rotary wing drones. For many of us who have been learning to build and fly mostly from this blog and message boards it was great to have an opportunity to trade tips and experiences in person with other practitioners of the drone arts. We are now at 52 members and are always looking to expand our community. Please check out the group at http://www.meetup.com/DC-Area-Drone-User-Group/ and consider joining if you are in the area.

Very cool, I'm in Raleigh North Carolina but make it up to DC often. I'm going to try to attend the next one if I can talk my better half into it. Usually she just requests a nice hotel and shopping.

Hey Tim. If you want a AMA field to play at check out NVRC. They are very open to technology and I flew FPV there for years. You'll just have to keep the drone within the field limits. They've already had a few contractors from the local area test out other 'stuff' out at their field.

NVRC, Is that the one in Leesburg?  That's fairly close to me, just cross the river at Point of Rocks and go down 15.

NVRC is located in Chantilly, Va right outside the battle field. Check www.1nvrc.org
