Thanks for sharing. I have snapped my HS near where you have. I use fiberglass reinforced packing tape to keep it together (after gorilla gluing it). I just mounted my APM into the fuselage and pushed it as far back as I could. I kept it in place with 4mm foam tape. I may try something like your skewer idea later.
