Comment by OG on April 23, 2012 at 6:22am try powering the ESC pins as well with one of the power from the esc try esc one. will it boot when connected by USB & battery at the same time?
Comment by Vernon Barry on April 23, 2012 at 6:43am APM 2.0 has a bug in the current firmwares that requires you to press the reset button after pluggin in the battery. Otherwise, it will just sit there and do nothing.
Comment by Vernon Barry on April 23, 2012 at 6:54am As a note, I had a very similiar problem, it was not wanting boot from ESC. I though ok, I'll just reflash the firmware and got "unalbe to detect APM version" plugged into USB directly. Frustrated, I tried to flash a bootloader with my AVR programmer and that failed. I walked away frustrated sinc enothing worked. 2 hours later, did nothing but plug in the battery and hit reset and it booted normally. Why, I have no idea but this firmware bug is a real pain.
Comment by Emile L. on April 23, 2012 at 10:00am As per the video, Yes the unit requires a reset after power is plugged in to get it booted. But if the SD card is in it will not boot. Power is cumming from ESC1 position, and does not boot with or without USB attached when the SD card is in place. Can the SD card be the problem can it be formatted?
Comment by Michael on April 26, 2012 at 3:32am This is exactly my issue. The formatting of the flashware seems to be corrupt. When connecting apm2 to mp without card then inserting the flashcard and goint to the terminal the card is being formatted and after that apm is in normal mode with the right leds blinking. I can even arm my motors, and flashcard is also recognised. But as soon as unplugging the apm, the problem´s the same as before...
This bug has really been annoying me for days now...
Comment by Emile L. on April 26, 2012 at 6:37am I tried it again a couple of nights ago and it seems hit or miss if it starts up as soon as it is plugged in, usually it need the reset button pushed to get it going. Last night I hooked up the Xbee telemetry unit to the APM2, now it seems to always boot by just plugging it it???
I hope the problems all go away when they get the boot loader problem resolved.
Comment by OG on April 26, 2012 at 7:24am I am using the APM2 as well & I do not have this issue. But I am powering the unit from ESC side.
Comment by Emile L. on April 26, 2012 at 7:29am My power is cumming in on ESC 1 with the jumper in place. The radio power is in parallel with the same power source but the cord comes from the power board directly. I was told by my Canadian distributor that the boot loader problem fix should be out shortly. I hope it resolves the problem a lot of people are having.
Comment by OG on April 27, 2012 at 1:33pm I beg to differ I do not have this problem. I can arm the motor right after plugging the power
Comment by Emile L. on April 27, 2012 at 1:41pm I thought I read somewhere the the latest APM2 (batch) had slight design changes compared to the the previous batch. Mine is the latest batch that has just been delivered at the beginning of April. Yes sometimes it seems very random if it will boot when just plugged in or you need to hit the reset.
