Installing the APMv2 in different aircraft

I want to be able to use my APM v2 in more than one aircraft (not at the same time obviously).
Can you tell me if this set of steps is correct?

1. Setup aircraft(a)/radio using Mission Planner
2. Save the Param file
3. Setup aircraft(b)/radio using Mission Planner
4. Save the Param file
5. Load the corresponding Param file to which ever aircraft I want to fly

Is it that simple?
I.e. Does the Param file contain all the information required including the radio setup e.t.c.?

Thanks
JC

  • Hello, i'm following this post and have the same question ...

My need is to use the same APM on a Quad and a plane

but outdoor season is closed for me so i won't do it this year, for sure.

But i think it's quite simple. For me i would do that sequence to use another model :

1 - Update the good firmware.

2 - Update the parameters you have saved previously.

    3 - Redo the level.

    4 - Go fly ...

If you upload the parameters, it's quite easy to redo level. Why not do it ???

Unless it's hard to do for some reason ...

A good way to check the level "fields" in parmeters is do a "wrong level" and save parameters.

Then redo a good level and save parameters and use the "compare" function on parameters.

You will see what have changed between the two different levels.

I think there won't be only level parameters but it will be easy to see what have changed.

( For sure there is GPS fields that will change or orientation for example ... ).

    ;)

  • Anyone?

  • Also, does the param file contain the MANUAL_LEVEL information?

So when set, and i load a param file, i won't have to do another manual level?
