Adding extra functions to MinimOSD

I have started to add functions to MinimOsd code.

At first i did it for myself only. Added many functions i thought i need. Then opened this thread.

after a while, Pedro and later Miguel came, and things started to happen fast. :D

They have optimised the code and added even more things to it.

They have worked hard on CT, and it became a great tool!

Thank you Bough! :)

By now MinimOSD-Extra got a pretty advanced OSD.

Here it is in action:

Added:

- Changeable unit measurement (US, metric)

- Airspeed

- Home alt

- Battery Percent

- Battery used mah

- Current Draw

- Time From Startup (cleared at takeoff to show exact flight time)

- OSD Menu

- Variometer

- Wind horizontal speed and direction, and also the average wind speed of the last few minutes.

- OSD on/off

- Switchable secound screen

- WP distance

- WP heading

- Crosstrack error

- Warning messages for Lost GPS fix, Stall, Overspeed, battery volt, battery Percent, RSSI

- Efficiency, glide distance & thermic notifier. 3 in one panel

- OSD Brightness

- HAM Call Sign

- After flight summary

- Trip distance

- Temperature

- Smoothened horizon

- Real heading

- RSSI

- Vertical speed

This functions can be turned on and off, and placed on different screens now, by the Config. tool.

Also RSSI, switching mode and channel and unit measurement, Stall speed warning, Overspeed warning, Battery warning volt, Battery percent warning, RSSI warning,  can be set in new Config Tool.

We built in a new way of setting video standards. Now OSD does not guessing anymore :). You can set it fixed from CT. It is in "Video Mode" menu.

Here is how it looks: (This video is a bit outdated, sorry. I will make a new one soon.)

The MinimOSD-Extra project is here: Link

This project is the developing version of the official Arducam OSD located here: Link

The latest stable version is: 2.2

The latest version can be downloaded from here: MinimOSD-Extra R800

Username: MinimOSD_Extra

Password: Top_Secret

CT is included. (The FW for Plane, Copter, Character upload and the character file is in the "FW & Char" directory inside CT directory)

We are sharing it to see videos you make using it! :)

Enjoy

        • Hi Raph,

          Thanks for replying.

I have tried those parameters but still no joy.

          No MAV DATA!

          • Hi James,

Did you power the pixhawk by lipo or USB, when USB is connected no info is send to the telemetrie so no mavlink ;)

Test by power from power module only

            • Hi Peter,

Iam powering the pixhawk by Lipo (via the supplied 3dr power module)

Since I've upgraded to MinimOSDExtra_Plane_Prerelease_2.4_r780 airspeed is showing 0 while in flight, yet airspeed is correctly saved to the flash log. Do I have to change something? Thanks.

This seems to be a problem with Arduplane V 3.0.3 in general - I don't see Airspeed on mission planner either. I've tried 4 different flights with different settings, in the end I downgraded to 2.78b and everything is working great again. I wonder what's wrong with 3.0.3? I'm considering logging a bug. Anyway, I've had a good flight yesterday, included some clips of plane 2.4 r780:

  • Hi Miguel,

A couple of us are experiencing issues getting voltage / current data to update (except once during arm and disarm), it's discussed on the Wiki here, any ideas?

    • Hi Mark,

It should be SR0_EXT_STAT parameter that's missing a value (it should be 2). Could you check it please?

This is assuming you're running AC in a APM (not sure about Pixhawk SRx number).

Nonetheless and as d.zhurakovskyy  commented there, you may try to set all the SR parameters that are 0 (zero) to say 1 or 2 just to see if it starts reporting the data.

  • I have loaded 3.2 RC2 on my multirotors and noticed that the "hybrid" flight mode is not recognized by the minimosd.  I think I am running the latest build.

Is there a build that recognizes the new "hybrid" flight mode?

    • Hi Steve,

      Latest is r791

      It should show Hybrid mode.

      • Miguel,

Thank you for the quick response.

A follow up question, I am looking for the archive of builds and I must have found the wrong place.

The builds seem to stop in January at this site: https://code.google.com/p/minimosd-extra/downloads/list?can=1&q...

Is there a new or different location I should look for the builds?

        Thanks again for your help.

        Steve
