APM 2.0 onboard GPS change to uBlox LEA 6 - possible?

Hi!

I've a APM 2.0 with the soldered onboard Mediatek GPS and magnetometer. Now I want to buy a uBlox LEA 6 GPS module. Can i use it parallel to the onboard GPS? Or is it not possible?

If I can use it, which cable I must use (uBlox to APM) and where I must change the settings for GPS - that the data from external uBlox GPS will be used and not the onboard-data? I'm using missionplanner with arducopter.

Best regards from germany

  • Thanks very much. I still wait for my new ublox gps. :-)

  • I haven't done this, but maybe this will help...

  • You need to disable the on board GPS. Then you can plug the uBlox into the GPS port on the APM 2.0. I don't think you can have both active at the same time. If you look around, you'll find info on how to disable the on board unit. I think you bridge pins 2 & 3, but you should verify.
