  • I currently have a similar issue with an APM 2.5 from 3dr and have not had any problems updating firmware via Mission Planner until now.  When I tried to upload Arducopter 3.1.4 via USB over the weekend it gets through the board version check and then downloads the hex file and then goes through reading hex then fails with a "Communication Error".  The interesting thing is that I also use AMP Planner 2 and was able to upload via AMP Planner 2 without any problem.  Much faster that it ever was when I was using Mission Planner.  A while ago I saw a post to DIYDrones talking about Mission Planner checking the PIX Hawk boards for a valid id that would tie them back to 3DR.  I wonder if there is something in this code that may have started to affect what happens with the APM 2.5 even though this is a valid board not 3rd Party board.  Any info on this would be great as I don't have the funds to upgrade yet even though I would like to.

    • my fw ver is 3.1.5 and latest mission planner,1.3.5.1, all ok (third party apm i guess)

      • --3DR would not be considered third party I don't think.

  • Yes , it is 115200 baudrate and the box for COM port is says "NO DEVICE " instead of COM port no. or some other kind of com port.and I just did hold reset button and connect Ardu but still the same. my problem is can not download driver software for this device..if the USB recognize this Ardu it will detect the comport no.,I think. Oh, well let me ask 3drobotics  tech support and they might came across  something weird like this.. Thanks again Kim. P.S any more ideas and I will try them all. THX.

  • This is happing to me as well! And I have it for both MAC and PC. The same thing is happening and I just write about this problem, 30 seconds later I saw your post! I can connect via the Wireless telemetry but not the USB. And I have Aurdino installed. This only happened when the APM and Mission Planner where updated. So I am guessing that something was effected in the code change with the updates to the programs. The com port is showing up in my device drivers. I am very good with computers and I am having a hard time to get it to connect.

    Thanks Mike

  • Hello Swift. Thanks for replied.Yes, when connect to computer and open mission planner it shows Ardino 2560 [COM 18] in device manager and in printer.but when after attempting upgrade driver software it shows this message " Windows found driver software for your devicce but encounter an error while attempting install it" and Com port number kept changing to higher no.[increment] from Com6 now at com18 [ tried upgrade many times] and in mission planner upright corner box says " NO DEVICE" and 115200 , it suppose to show Comport number for you to select but not this one and trid to loading firmware in mission planner it not show version number either ,instead it shows Arducopter VX.X.X it suppose to show Arducopter V1.2.9 like my old one.and it said " No valid device fond, check to be sure your APM 2.5+ is plugged in and drivers are installed" I am totally lost in space..LOL and don't know what to do. Could be a certain driver software or what?? or ARDU2.6 is kaputt but it has lights blinking as usual though, i,e blinking RED and solid BLUE and GPS : solid RED ang flashing BLUE. Thanks so much for try helping me and if any more idea please let me know. till nex time.
