Arduplane HIL - XPlane - Problem [Update]

Hi,

i ran into a problem with the HIL-Simulation.

Normally, i am using Arduplane 3.2.2 on my Vehicle (Hardware is a HK Pilot Mega 2.5)

All newer Software-versions do not communicate with mission planner. I can connect, but i do not receive any data back.

So when i setup the HIL, i flashed the HIL-Firmware for Arduplane 3.2.2. But with this firmware, i have the same error as with firmwares newer than 3.2.2 (not HIL).

After hitting connect, it shows, that the connection is established, but i do not get any data from my craft (mode is showing "initializing").

So in short:

Software for real Aircraft

"3.2.2 <" -> No communication

Software for HIL:

"all" -> no communication

X-Plane and MissionPlanner seem to be ok. I can establish a connection between these two.

Does anybody have any tips for me what might be wrong in my case?

  • Hi,

    I've got an original APM 2.5.2 from 3DR and expecting the same issue as other users.

    I'm used to playing with this since 2.73 release of Ardupilot so I'm confident about my setup.

    HIL not working in this release but perhaps is it a problem with mission planner ?

    I wrote the problem few day after 3.3 release here on DIYDRONES and APM Planner Forum but nobody seems to care about this not-working HIL simulation that I love so much like others.

    • Hi Jean,

      i seem go get it going.

      I reflashed the HIL Firmware 3.2.2 and updated MissionPlanner to the newest release.

      (I also updated APM-Planer, but i am not using it right now)

      The HIL is working now!

      BUT:

      The APm seems to be vary confused about the data, it gets.

      Compass is jumping all over the place (full 360°).

      The artificial horizont in MissionPlanner shows the Plane jumping rapidly in pitch and roll-axis, but, at least in Manual and stabilized mode) the plane behaves quite nice.

      When i enter FBWA, FBWB, Circle, RTL or anything like that, it starts pitching up and down rapidly.

      I would not think, that this is a PID-issue since:

      a) flying in Autotune works ok

      b) MP shows that the plane thinks it is pitching up and down rapidly, so it tries to compansate for this.

      MP even shows the plane jittering, when the Simulation is stopped.

      Anyone have a suggestion on that one?

      Edit after some more testing:

      Flying in autotune works really well. The Plane feels stable and everything. But FBWA and every other mode just... NO! :-(
