calibrating the esc's from the kit

Hi,

I have the arducopter kit from fahpah and I tried to calibrate the esc. First I plugged the esc into the throttle channel of the receiver and turned on the tx and set it to full throttle. Then plugged in the battery and the motor started to beep. After some beeps I figured this didnt sound like the instructions in the wiki said but I went ahead and set the throttle to zero(in the middle) and took out the battery (motor was still beeping on). When turning on the battery again and the tx the motor started to spin up very fast even the throttle was in the middle/0. But when i took the throttle down from center the motor was going slower, but with the motor at the center it was going quite fast i think more then 50% speed.

What can i have done wrong? What does it mean to set the throttle to zero, should i set it at the center or at the down-most position when calibrating?

Im very new to this, when the throttle is at the center, should that be where the motors idle at low rpm?

Try calibrating each ESC seperately. One at a time, connect the ESC to the throttle channel of your Rx with no LiPo plugged in. With your Tx on, put throttle stick all the way up. Then plug in the Lipo, wait for the beeps, then bring the throttle stick all the way down and wait for the different beeps. Then you can unplug and do it again for each of the other three.

  • I forgot to say, the wiki says: "After the calibration is done you can plug all cables in place and try to arm the motors by pushing the throttle stick to the lower right position. To disarm the motors push it to the lower left."

But my motor started the moment i put on power and tx..even though the tx throttle was at center.
