Hello

My name is Blair. I am an Electrical Engineering Student in my honours year at Glasgow University. For my dissertation project, I opted to take myself out of my comfort zone and take on a very practical based assignment.

The project involves creating my own set of brushless motors to be used in a quadcopter. I am doing this using parts aquired from old computer CD/DVD drives. The project itself is based on an article written by Dave Thomson. It can be found from the following link -

http://www.siliconchip.com.au/Issue/2012/July/Modifying+CD-ROM+Motors+For+High+Power+Operation

I have found this forum to be very interesting and insightful. There seem to be many experts in the field of UAV's online offering advice to those who seek it. That being said, I was hoping to attract the interest of someone who has attempted to carry out a similar task to this or perhaps someone who just finds the project to be interesting.

The help of anyone, who could point me in the right direction and perhaps answer any queeries that I have, would be greatly appreciated. I believe the article provided in the above link would be very interesting to UAV enthusiasts so please have a look if you have the time.

I hope to post progress reports and photos at a later date to keep those interested in the the project up to date.

Kind Regards

Blair Young
