Hi,

I'm new to the forum and new to building my own drone. I have an Autel X-STAR and a couple of small quads that I absolutely love and had the urge to build my own fixed wing when I started reading about Ardupilot.

I purchased 2 mini APM 3.1 boards and am returning one because it quit talking USB. The second (purchased from 2 different vendors) I am running into the same issue that I had with the first one before the USB quit. Fearing that the first failure may have been self-induced, I was extra careful with this second one and only connected the GPS first after cutting the trace. It linked up and I was able to load FW and calibrate the accelerometers with no issue. I then connected 1 channel of my RC receiver to CH1 on the unit and I don't see anything at all on the "Radio Calibration" page in Mission planner. It just shows everything with the green sliders all the way down.

I have a Spektrum AR610 receiver and I verified that it is bound correctly and it drives servos with no problem. I connected 5V, G, and CH 1 to the APM and it powers up but nothing shows up on the input side when looking at Mission Planner. I put a scope on the lead and verified that the pulse width was changing on that input.

I am really stuck and have been trolling the internet for hours and coming up with nothing. There is some information about a similar problem, but no real solutions. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Jason

  • I don't have a servo tester but same problem with my other receiver. So any recommendations on which model and where to by from? I want to stay light and it is a fixed wing application. Would the Pixracer be a good alternative?
  • Who knows what kind of knockoff a APM "3.1"  is, try another receiver or a servo tester as source, but it does not look good..
