Have tried everything I can find online.  Maybe this is a fresh bug for you guys to sort out.  Not a programmer, not interested in playing with other peoples mistakes, just a user that wants a reliable autopilot for instructing other users and safe operation.  6 hours of unproductive tail chasing with an autopilot that was working fine yesterday is enough to p*ss anybody off.

COM ports tried in every available option

no heartbeat error

cannot connect, failed error

no port with ardu listed in device manager

Windows Vista running on Dell laptop

cannot download firmware, connection error

hit reset on APM twice

downloaded mission planner 4 times

downloaded usb drivers from site 4 times

checked all 4 available usb ports

rebooted PC 6 times

again, was working fine before I "updated" mission planner yesterday.

the device should always be listed in device manager. if its not there, then its either a hardware, power or usb issue.
