F450 clone/CRIUS V2 went crazy and crashed in loiter...

Hi:
I´m very frustrated. I do not know exactly what I´m doind wrong, but I could never tune my quad to fly properly in the modes I choosed (Stab, Alt Hold, loiter).

My setup:

HJ 450 frame

Crius V2 / GPS

4 x emax 2213

Turnigy 20A esc

10x4.5 std props

I could take off in stab mode. I was working in the triming...

I had to relocate the crius board because in alt hold it climbed really fast, I put the board over foam. It worked,

So next I wanted to try Loiter mode.

I tried a couple of times and looked good, but suddenly it went crazy, climbed at high speed and started to describe a big circle at really high speed. I didn´t respond to the throttle. I was scared because it was traffic down the drone. At a certain moment I think I went to stab and cut the throttle, and the quad crashed heavily...but I´m not shure if this was what happened because the motors were running at high speed when I reached the copter. I had to disconnect the battery risking my finger (two of the props were still in one piece).

The last thing I did was rise the compass offset because the board was not arming because of magfield: it was around 100, so I raised the offset to 300 to get a magfield of 200-220.

Alt hold seemed to hold position better than loiter, and the just went crazy...

I´m really thinking in reassembling it and selling the copter. I´m a bit scared that this same thing could happen in a future...

Any clue?

Thanks!

  • So this seems to be a "toilette bowl" effect because fo lack of compass health...

Still do not know how to correct this (first I have to check all the damages...)

    • It seems to me that diydrones.com has more questions than answers...
