Giant Manned Hexacopter

So let me start off by saying that I have little experience in building any type of RC machinery but I do have a lot of tech experience background that would aid me in learning to do such a thing.

I have an AR drone and ever since I've had it I've wanted to do more and more with it but have become upset by it's limitations. Ever since I saw Mikrokopters hexacopter I've been wanting to build one. In the past week I've been thinking I should get into building one and learn how it's done but I've been dreaming big lately. I found this forum in hope of you wonderful people being able to help me with this idea I've had.

Now I've always wanted to fly a real helicopter. I wanted to try the army in hope that there would be some way they'd let me do it but since I'm slightly color blind I got denied a lot of things that I could do.  But now I've got an idea that could potentially work but would take a ton of R&D.

I'll probably get flakked right out of the sky for this but I've been thinking of making a very large mannable hexacopter. Picture an encased almost UFO looking black frame with 6 propellers.  In the center would be a ball cockpit that would be gyro stabilized for whatever direction you would like to face. Now I'm thinking wouldn't that be sweet to go to work in.

This seems like it would be very complicated. The gyro stabilized cockpit is what gets me but they've been using gyros in real cockpits for decades so I think I could replicate that into my design.  I'd like the motors to be electric but use gasoline engines to power alternators that would keep the motors running for extended distances. Aircraft grade metals for the frame and carbon fiber for the exterior plating. Sure you'd need a life support system but I haven't gotten past that.  I was thinking I could use Ardu technology or some sort android based operating system to make it manned controlled or unmanned.

This could be illegal without some sort of license but looking past that I was wondering your thoughts on this.  I'm sure this would probably cost above $50k - $100k. If your laughing at it or wanting to steal this idea it doesn't matter I've been wanting to do this for a long time.
