Help... Spektrum DX8 and Pixhawk

Any thoughts? New to the Pixhawk and Planner....

I am using a Spektrum DX8 transmitter with an AR8000 receiver... This is connected to the Pixhawk flight controller through the PPM encoder...

The radio is set in Mode 2.. Throttle left side and according to the instructions for the PPM encoder I have this connected correctly to the receiver, plugs 1-8 ....

Transmitter binds and connects to Pixhawk... Running the mission planner setup..

When I get to the radio calibration this is where the problem lies....

When I calibrate everything is opposite.... Right stick shows controlling throttle.... left stick is controlling roll, etc, etc..

Any help would be appreciated....

THanks
Al

    Hmmm... Strange that 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 wouldnt go 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 but 3 2 1 6 5 7 8 4 or something like that..

Any I have corrected the problem thanks to your reply...

    Thanks for the help
    • Doug, i have the same problem with my dx6 and ar600 receiver what order did you plug the ppm module connectors in the rx?

      • never mind got it thanks

  • I have connected the satellite receiver directly to the Pixhawk without the PPM module / AR8000 and everything works fine the way it should.... The only thing I can think of is that the cables from the PPM to the AR8000 are connected wrong however they are labeled 1-8 and connected in that order...

I would like to use the receiver as I have heard the range using just the Satellite is limited..

    Thanks
    • Review the PDF file for PPM Encoder at http://code.google.com/p/arducopter/downloads/detail?name=PPM%20Enc... and http://copter.arducopter.com/wiki/common-pixhawk-overview/

      On PPM unit

      Channel 1 - Roll

      Channel 2 - Pitch

      Channel 3 - Throttle

      Channel 4 - Yaw

On your output side of the PPM encoder plugs into the Pixhawk's "PPM-SUM IN" port.  Ensure your PPM to AR8000 Receiver is pinned out correctly and that your output side is pinned to Pixhawk correctly.

Power up your UAV and ensure you have a blue LED flashing on PPM and a solid orange LED on your AR8000.  If you don't see them both lit, then you haven't configured power correctly to these modules.

You should see in the Mission Planner for your flight controls once connected, that as you move your stick around, that the Pixhawk though the mission planner shows movement.

I believe your issue is between the receiver and the PPM module and to the Pixhawk unit.

      Hope this helps.
