Help understanding OSD options

So I have an APM 2.6 with 900 Mhz Telemetry radios on the way. Now I need to figure out what the best FPV set up will be for me but I don't know enough to understand what my options are. I could always buy the 5/8 Ghz package sold in the 3DR store and I am leaning that way but I still want to know what systems like RVOSD & Eagle Tree bring to the table and why they are so much more. Are they trying to double as an AP solution too? If not why are they so much more money and are they worth it?

To be honest I like the idea of a 1.2-1.3 GHz FPV/OSD solution because of the inherent range but I like the OOB solution the 3DR kit offers.

So what am I missing? Are any of these FPV/OSD solutions worth the extra coin? I plan to set all this up on a rover to begin with then transition it all over to a quad on the coming months. I want to make my mistakes on the ground then move to the air. I have a 6DOF arm I am planning to mount on top of the rover and control seperatley too but that will be taken care of using a different RC system on a completely different wavelength than all the other stuff.

One system that caught my eye is the BEVRC (http://www.bevrc.com/bev-13g-1500mw_p82.html) set up. Can I just hook the minimOSD and a camera up to this?
