How do you 'undo' Auto-Trim.

I got my 3DR hex flying nice and level in 'Stabilize Mode'.  It lifted off smoothly and responded as expected to the controls.  I managed a couple of pleasant 2 - 3 minute flights.

Then I tried the Auto Trim function where you hold the stick to the right for 10-15 seconds when arming.  http://code.google.com/p/arducopter/wiki/AC2_AutoTrim

Well, that ruined everything.  From that point on, the hex became uncontrollable.  It tilted as it left the ground  and started rolling and pitching all over the place.  I could just control it enough to get it down without crashing.

I connected the hex to my computer and went through the leveling routine thinking that would put things back to the way things were.  I also re-calibrated the receiver while I was at it and made sure that the hex was still in 'Stabilize Mode'.

This made no difference.  The thing still won't fly properly and continues to pitch and roll all over the place as soon as it leaves the ground.

How do I 'undo' whatever 'auto-trim' did and get back to the stable flight I once had?
