I bought a Twinstar II and set it up with brushless motors. I have a Fly 5 Flight stick and I am controlling it using mission planner / apm 2.5. My first flight gently landed in a small tree. I got lucky on the next flight and was able to save the plane by landing it at the last minute. The third flight, I did a perfect nose dive into a hay field. My question is how can I learn to fly a twinstar without breaking it into pieces every time? Is there a simulator that has a twinstar available to fly? How did you gain experience with your planes?

You can use Geofence in Missionplanner.
If you break the fench or the Min / Max altitude the APM will recover the plane and RTL then you can take over again.
You can read more about it here Geofence
I would recommend to get someone that can fly to teach you, If you got an RC club close to where you live they would probably assist you. You could also Buy Realflight simulator to train
