Another one of these topics.. I got my minimosd 0.1 from ebay a few days ago, and I haven't been able to get it working. I get an an image but no overlay. I have searched around a lot but none of the solutions I have found worked for me.. Is my board fried? If so, how did that happen?
I soldered the two pads to power up the whole board via 5V. I have measured with a multimeter and both the AVR and the Max boards are getting power (about 4.78V).
The first thing I did was flash the minimosd extra hex file directly to the AVR via the ISP port (I soldered some pins to the holes). This caused bootloader errors and whatnot, so I cleaned it up and flashed the bootloader using the commands here: http://code.google.com/p/arducam-osd/issues/detail?id=30#c8 . Now I could communicate via the OSD_config tool. I set up everything and flashed the hex to the board, and saved the configs, and updated the character set.
Then I wired everything up and tried it. The first time I powered it up, the OSD made three large vertical lines on my image, no legible data. Weird. I powered it down and up again but now the OSD didn't write anything to the image, I only saw what the camera saw. Since then I have tried so many things, but I never ever got the OSD to show anything again, much less working properly. I tried switching between PAL and NTSC, I tried unplugging the camera (then I just get nothing, no OSD data here either), waiting a bit before connecting the OSD, hitting the reset button (the image flickers, no splash screen or anything), tried the prerelease firmware instead, tried hooking up a difference source (my dvd player, same results), checked the voltage and connections all over the board, everything seems ok.
Yesterday I gave up hope and ordered a new board, but I figured I'd make this thread anyway, at least I can try finding out what I did wrong.
EDIT: forgot to mention, my FC is a crius AIOP v2 w/ megapirateNG and my camera is a GoPro HD

One, maybe stupid thing to test - plug off Your camera ;)
This was some time ago, so, sorry, i don't remember exact details of the case, but, had similar situation. And for me the change of camera helps finally. But before that i also checked out like a dog.. and once noticed, that when camera connection was broked, then there was a OSD on (of course) black screen. Then of course i tested other (not so good) camera, i had - and VOILA!
