Mode switching inop in HIL sim

I have my Futaba 7c programmed with the 3 position mode switch set to ch5. After loading the APM sim and configuring using the latest APM version, I go to terminal to check configuration and when I flip the mode switch, the setup:modes line does not change. After I hit enter, it shows what appears to be the default modes, I can switch between them with the ail stick, but switching the switch has no effect on the mode in the CLI view (as it normally does when the Arducopter program is loaded). So, when I connect to X-plane (latest version) with the APM planner sim page, I can fly the plane manually with the futaba with HIL, no problems at all, but switching to auto or any other switch position has no effect - doesn't fly to a WP or anything.Last night I reloaded arducopter software, configured the APM and it works fine, mode setup and switching is normal, after reloading the APM sim program tonight, simply no effect from switching modes in ch5. I'm stumped. Any ideas greatly appreciated.I want to set up this APM to fly autonomous and then install it in my new UAV build described here: www.rofldrone.comJim

  • I reset the eeprom, tried again, but switching my mode switch has no effect. Using the CLI modes/setup command I can change only pos 0 to whatever mode I wish, however moving the switch to the center (3) or (5) position does not create a response from the command line. Looking at radio view in raw sensor, I see sw ch 5 moving with the switch correctly, but no output on radio side of that view, but good output on radio side for the other channels - just not ch 5. Again, reloaded arducopter, ran setup, mode switching and programming works fine.

Reload APM sim, setup, try mode switching again, no response from ch 5 switch. rechecked everything and it's working finre in the radio input in raw sensor view, but no output on the right side of the view - for ch 5.

I'm stumped, but that's not unusual - I'm sure I'm missing something. Planner is loaded, I can crash the 172 by selecting auto mode on the flight data page (goes to full throttle and banks hard left and pitches down. Then select manual on that page and I have RC control again.

Do a CLI EEPROM reset and setup again. Whenever you change firmware, you need to clear the EEPROM.
