Newbie Hexacopter Advice

Hi, we are about to start making a hexacopter along the lines of the mk hexa xl, although using our own frame that will be approx 850mm shaft to shaft. We are going to use the arducopter control board and IMU. We have already started constructing the frame and hope to have it flying for around £600-£800, we eventually want to use it for aerial photography.

We have been reading lots of info and have yet to decide on what motors to use, the ones mk use are pricey but it seems finding something to match its specs is difficult, any suggestions, also we are looking at turnigy plush esc's, anyone with experience of these.

We would like a payload capacity of arounf 1kg and realise that we will have to upgrade motors and esc's befor ehanging expensive cameras from it but we are trying to get a testbed flying for a reasonable cost to see if we can do what we anticipate with it, any advice greatfully recieved.

  • Very nice craftsmanship on the frame.

  • OK, quick update and hopefully some advise. We have finished making the frame now and are installing the soldering up the megapilot board, we have GPS and Magnetometer to go on, we ultimately want the best stability we can get, so it will hold a steady position to get our shots, can anyone give some advise on setup/ settings for the flight controller. Here are some pics of the build so far
