  • For the first quad I would recommend a Walkera Ladybird micro quad. They are sold rtf for around $50. For extra $35 get some more batteries and a balanced lipo charger from HK.
Its fly time about 5 min per 300mah batterie. Its very durable and you can fly indoors as well as outside. It handles light wind well too.
First off you need to get skills; orientation etc. Take your time. You will crash alot.
Once you can fly without crashing you can get your first kit or diy quad. I personally recommend brand kit. Its more expensive but you will avoid lots of unnecessary frustration.
I started cheap, got all parts fron rctimer, but soon realized that motors are crap, props are crap and ended up spending more money on brand names.
So save your time and money and buy quality product right away.
  • Hi! I have this kind of frame(HJ450) also. I think it's okay for beginners like us. Arms are cheap but the quality is good :)

  • I bought an X525 with 328P based Multiwii FC off EvilBay for $150. This came with descent alloy arms, fibreglass inner parts& motor mounts, 4x KV1000 motors & 4x 30A ESCs. I then added a Lemon 8channel RX ($15) and used Spectrum DX7 TX ($150). You can buy much cheaper TX/RX from HK but range is limited. I then wanted GPS. My 328 could only do basics such as PosHold & RTH so I lashed out on AtMega 2560 based Crius AIOP V2 which can run EOS Bandi MWV2.3 Navi b7 with Missions, Fencing, Land & loads more. Even with stock PIDS quad will PosHold within +/_ .5 m and run Missions with Nasa like accuracy. The only negative with the Crius AIOP V1 & 2 is onboard Mag. at least with V2 it is easily disabled to use an external Mag board which I have done.

  • The Blade 200 QX BNF Quadcopter Is pretty good for beginners. Its slightly out of your price range. I have just seen one on http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/200-qx-bnf-with-safe-technolog... for $229.99 USD

    • Thanks for your reply.
It looks as if this quad doesn't have a rc receiver so I will need to buy also that and it will be already 300$

  • It doesnt have a remote control transmitter and receiver which can be bought for approximate $50 and $20 from somewhere like hobbyking. In terms of quality i have found the cheapo clones things dont work quite as well. For example the cloned arms are probably not very firm, flex and vibrate a lot which leads to a worse flying experience. I have a similar experience with some cloned dji arms from hobbyking and then i switched to some aluminium arms and things got better. AS with everything, its a trade off.

Probably the best thing to do is goto your local park and find someone else who is flying their quad and see it for real and ask them questions. That said nobody flies around me, so in my case that advice wouldnt have worked :)

    • Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately no one around here flies this stuff. Is there any chance buying in that price something with a rc receiver?
      Thanks
