I've been reading through the various forum posts about possible issues when powering the APM via the 3DR power module. I'm hoping someone can diagram how to set up a separate power system to the servo rail since I've read the amperage from the Power Module is in sufficient to power the APM and servos.

I'm setting up this system as a hexa with three servo gimbal soon but presently test bedding using a quad

AMP 2.5 with 915 mhz telemetry with the power module (so far no problems with quad setup but no gimbal) my esc's have BEC so I'm hoping I can somehow wire one of them to power the servo rail on the APM but I'm not sure exactly how as I'm afraid of frying something

Thank You in Advance

  • Dear Bill,

I just want to clarify. for a digital servo PowerHD 2215S with 333Hz Operating frequency connected to output RC 7 & RC8 for tilt and roll gimbal axis, will it cause my servos instantly burn out or my APM's board fried because of 'out of range PWM frequency' ?

  • I think I have found the answer to my own question.

I noticed in the mission planner I can assign the roll and tilt to RC 7 & 8 which will be open in my case since I'm building a hexa and get the power directly for my digital roll / tilt servos from my ESC's, The pan servo can be controlled directly from the the RC receiver bypassing the APM all together.

Here is where I finally found this info:
