Pre Flight Tests From The Wiki

I'm trying to work out if the pre-flight tests on the wiki bellow

http://code.google.com/p/arducopter/wiki/AC2_Preflight

are for just the + configuration or for both the + and the x Config?

I just can't see the pre-flight tests to be the same for both configurations! or am i wrong?

Can some one let me know, before i trash my copter.

Regards

Dmac

  • hey dmac!!, so glad its working!!, i saw the video, looks good and with a little pid tunning it should fly even better. (Nice landing gear you have there :p)

also, keep in mind that if rate_P alone doesn't make much difference, it could be stabilize_P just a bit high, so lower it a bit.

It is recommended to always change only one variable at the time, and do small changes to avoid instability.

  • Hey dmac, i know how it feels, being raining here too. About the PIDs, as i can see from your design, it looks like you should be safe with the default values, fly with the defaults, and remember, watch how it flies, i even find it useful to record the fly, and watch for oscillations/sluggish movement in order to fine tune the values.

have fun!! and let us know how it goes!

  • its for + configuration, but the principle is the same for X, in X if you pitch the copter down, both front motors should start spinning, or if you move the pitch stick forward, the 2 back motors should spin, in general, the motors that are below the level they are supposed to be, they get turned on. Imagine that they have props, if the quad would want to stay stable, it would turn on the motors that are at a lower altitude (or the motors on the side that you rolled/pitched down)
