quad flips over on takeoff. thoughts?

I'm having an issue where, upon taking off, my quad flips over. The ESCs have been calibrated and are wired correctly, and my transmitter is configured properly and the props are set as they should be, spinning in their appropriate directions. The GPS is solid blue at takeoff, as well. Also, I'm pretty sure I did the compass calibration properly. What should I check in order to effectively troubleshoot this issue? I am a novice still who has just recently gotten back into the hobby after moving.Thank you for your time and consideration.

  • Also make sure you have the quad firmware loaded, not hex. Easy mistake to make, hard to catch.
  • I recommend getting a cheap tachometer, tying your quad down to something solid / heavy and then checking the RPM of the motors at different throttle settings. I had a similar issue, but it turned out to be my propeller coming loose; all 4 of my motors had clockwise threading and I'd simply been relying on some rather tight nuts to keep the props on.

  • I have to ask

    1. Are you sure the props are on the right motors

    2.Is you battery charged

3.Are you taking off in Stabilize

    and for additional info

    4. What esc's are you using and

    5. have you calibrated them via APM or radio reciver

Most of the time it is the motor/prop setup is wrong

    • Sorry its harder to type on my phone....
    • Well I can't tell you much more other then to take the props off arm it and tilt it In one direction and see if the on the lowest side spins the fastest motor spins. And the esc is black is ubec and yellow is no ubec. And what board are you using. Also try rather then simple mode just plain stabilize, and if that doesn't work, try reflashing and check every thing again though the mp wizard.
    • 1.
X configuration, pushers on front left and back right and they are moving clockwise.

      2. Yes
      3. Stabilize (simple)
      4. Standard 3dr 20a though one is black and 3 are yellow.
      5. Radio
      • which radio are you using? what model type did you select in tx? if it is heli, change it to acro or airplane and try.
