Hi all,

I'm looking into design requirements and am wondering if there are any common rules of thumb for the power requirements of a UAV by weight and/or speed?

For a specific example of the question: how much power is required to support a 10lb UAV hovering vs. travelling at 20mph?  

I'm trying to figure out how big of a battery I need for different weight and speed specifications.  I imagine this is all related to the lift generated by the rotors but I'm not sure how to derive the power requirements myself.
