Setting of COMPASS_USE?

Hi

I have an APM2.0 with the GPS/Compass on board on a X5 flying wing , Is it preferable to use the compass or the GPS for heading information? ie COMPASS_USE   = 0 or 1

What advantages / disadvantages exist.

Thanks guys.

From Paul Riseborough, one of the APM:Plane's developers:

With strong winds our models can fly with the nose pointing 45 degrees or more away from the course heading so a correctly calibrated compass is important to getting good yaw angle (heading) data.
Without correct yaw angle information, the AHRS complementary filter is unable to correctly identify and correct for gyro errors around the roll and pitch axes as some of the pitch error gets assigned to roll and vice-versa.
The upshot is yes, yaw angle really is that important - big yaw errors won't cause a crash like than can for copters, but they can cause APM:Plane to fly badly .
So yes, you need to use the compass and have a good compass heading.
