Storage and Transport Solutions

Howdy all,It's my first post so I apologise if I have made a balls up on first time etiquette!I'm trying to come up with a storage and transport solution for a Blade 350 QX. It needs to be reasonably robust, waterproof or water resistant would be a bonus but not a deal breaker. But here's the snag, it needs to be cheaper than a Peli case which seems to cost a bomb in a big enough size. It would need to have approx internal measurements of 500x500x200mm (20x20x8").Anyone got any thoughts? New or preloved, not fussed! Thanks

  • That's great advice, having a look at some SPAD websites now.

  • I've got to say, if your goal is safe transport you're going to need something heavy duty like a peli or storm case.  Baggage handlers and Fedex guys don't take kindly to knockoffs:).  If you keep an eye on ebay you can often find used ones in great shape for cheaper.

  • I'm now considering what appears on the face of it to be a cost effective solution.  Alright so it isn't exactly rugged, but it should offer suitable protection during transport with some pluck and pull foam inserts.

I present to you... a polystyrene / styrofoam box!

It costs hardly anything and can easily be replaced if it falls to bits in time.  I'd punch a couple of holes each side and thread some rope through for carry handles.

Can anyone think of any obvious reasons why I shouldn't or couldn't use this?

  • Transportation and storage of blades is a serious business and needs expertise professional approach and advice. Whole lot of things from packing, covering up, and isolation from other objects need to be carried out in an error less manner so as to avoid least misshapen. You can make use of personal storage units for storage of blades as they offer effective storage solutions. Various storage and moving tips which are often used by storage facilitators can be made use of if you are trying to transport it on your own. We used service from professionals for transporting some sensitive items from Toronto and it went along good for us.

  • Hey Steven, thanks for that.

I've had a look and yes they are pretty well prices, but still really pricey for the size I need.

I'm now considering making own transport case from aluminium or plastic extrusions and correx board.  It won't be as robust but it should travel in the boot of my car well.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Hello Steven, thanks for replying.

I'm in the UK!  Suffolk to be more precise.  What did you have in mind?

  • Where in the world are you as that could make a difference.

I have a potential solution if you are in the UK.
