Tarot 2D Gimbal won't level out

Hi all, my first post here, hopefully you can help me out with my brand new 3DR Iris, and Tarot 2D gimbal.

I power on the drone and gimbal, everything seems to work fine except the gimbal will not level the GoPro. It points it down at the same downwards, backwards angle each time.

The gimbal keeps it steady though, so if the level were better, it would be excellent.

I've thought about loosening the screw and just manually tightening it at the angle that would put it level, but I could imagine that giving me problems down the road. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the feedback. Apparently the software has a hard time working with Windows 8. I had to go to a Windows 7 machine to get the software to connect.

and one thing I did find that when hooked in directly to the gimbal for firmware update and realignment that the gimbal is aligned as its reference point with the gopro lens pointing straight up into the belly of the IRIS as per the provided on screen graphic(its not a mistake).

Sorry not seen this. But how do you have your gporo mounted. I like that idea. Can you post how you did that? I hate the screws that mount the camera.

    Have you flown with it? Any difference vs being screwed in?

      Yes I've flown it with the camera at this downward, backwards angle. It still produces great footage but at this angle you can see the drone legs.
      
      If the camera is not mounted on the gimbal, the gimbal won't stabilize, it needs the counter weight.
