Hello, I recently purchased 4 brushless motors and 4 esc's for a drone project I'm working on. Is it possible to test the brushless motor with only an esc and an arduino? The esc has an additional 3 pins for a receiver, but we do not have one right now. All the video tutorials we've looked at have used a receiver in their wiring.

How to control a brushless motor through a ESC with Arduino
Electronic speed control (most commonly known as ESC) are nasty beasts: not from the controlling software point of view but for the way they need to…
  • Yes, certainly possible. I've been running brushless motors via arduino (no receiver) and a limit switch to turn on the motor.

Yes, its possible Mike. Just upload the "Servo > Sweep" exemple to your arduino and attach the yellow ESC wire to the pin 9 (Red to the 5V and Black to GND). You also need to power your ESC with one battery.
