Hello,

I was wondering if anyone may have a script or program that can create .jxl files (basically a text file) of georeferenced pictures that were captured with a GPS enabled camera? Below is a little background on what I am trying to accomplish with this.  I have also included a sample .jxl file and some corresponding photos.

I am using an Iris+ and a Canon sx260 camera to fly survey mapping missions.  I have access to Trimble Business Center (TBC) Software which is capable of  processing aerial survey data that has been acquired by any Trimble UAV.  This is also the software that I  use to process the collection of my survey grade ground control points.  Since my company doesn't have a Trimble UAV I was hoping to use what I have and perhaps trick the software into letting me use any UAV I choose.

The .jxl file is basically just a fancy text file that contains the picture names and a positional value of each picture (Lat., Long., and Altitude).  It also has a few specific camera details as well.  Since the pictures from the Canon sx260 have this data embedded in them I was hoping that someone has figured out a way to strip that data out and put it into a .jxl file for use in TBC.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Kevin

  • Looks like the solution was right under my nose!  When using Mission Planner to georefference photos a .jxl is created.  TBC reads this file and brings the photos in just like it should.  It seems like the .jxl from Mission Planner might need to be tweaked slightly but at least I have a good starting point now.
