I have recently been thinking about utilizing a data modem to remotely control my UAV rather than the current 36mhz PCM link I am using. The idea would be to hook up a standard Tx via it's trainer cable to a data modem of some kind, transmit over the datamodems link then convert the signal to PWM to drive the servos.Need to do some research on what exactly is transmitted over the Tx trainer port but I think it's viable. This solution would allow for much longer range over NLOS 900mhz data modems with a much more robust link using FHSS (frequency hopping spread spectrum).Does anyone know if anyone has done this before or has any advice?
