After stumbling onto Terence Bordelon's EZStar UAV site, Rabbit-Hole's WASP, and SilvertoneUAV, I'm hooked! I'd love to build (or buy ready made) a <$1000 uav system! But with so many choices it's a bit overwhelming... especially if you don't know if there's any consensus on generally good stuff vs. the bad... Below, is in general, my ideal wishlist along with specific products.. I know these things can get expensive, and I'd like to stay under a $1000 so if anyone has any suggestions on good components!

Finally, the "Other Autopilots" link, shows FlexiPilot/EasyUAV, AttoPilot, and Paparazzi. What about OpenPilot.org, which I hear is very good also:
Has anyone tried any of the other solutions? Is it possible to pick and choose the best features/implementation of each of these to make the best of all worlds? Or are you limited to the archiecture chosen up front?
