unable to calibrate compass for apm 2.8

i tried to calibrate apm 2.8 compass for the 1st time but during the calibration process it stuck on "21 samples more data needed 120 360 aim for yellow-green". i did rotate the apm 360 degs & chose "APM with onboard compass". but it won't go any further even i left it for an hour.

  • The amp 2.8 the compass 12c port is on the side of the board next to the gps port on top of the board, I at first was plugging into the 12c port on the top of the flight controller, that 12c port is for OSD..

Just this link out, scroll down to the pictures of the amp 2.8 and they have all the ports numbered take a look.

  • i bought it from our local supplier in malaysia. for the jumper setting i have no idea about that...the person who sold me the apm had everything set before he sent it out.
  • i already returned the apm and they said that there are some problem with the onboard compass. the guy that sold me that set doesn't have the new set of 2.8 then offer me 2.6 & it works great now. i guessed u better get 2.6 and an external compass. older technology is better....
    • Did you purchase from Witespy? If so I'll contact for an RMA tonight barring some support from them.

Also something I just found out is the 2.8 has a jumper pin set for enable/disable external gps/compass which is what I'm trying to use.

  • Was there any resolution to this? Purchased the 2.8 two weeks ago got it a few days ago and tried to calibrate and program it last night, also getting the same regarding the sample but I only get 3 samples.

    • I've also had the same problem: I have 2 APM 2.8, one of them - with external GPS - is connected to an USV and works perfectly. The other one - with internal GPS and without external GPS- cannot be calibrated and when I try to calibrate it, I only get 3 samples and stops getting more samples... and I cannot complete the calibration.

I've algo tried changing the jumper and nothing. Do I would have to return it to my supplier??

      Thanks
