I just recently got the pixhawk, i plugged it into the computer and the device drivers installed fine i then went to mission planner to try upload Arduplane to it. A dialog box appeared to unplug then replug it back in i did this and then says "Connecting" in the corner and after 10min it says "Error no response received from board". So now i followed the instuctions on this page and it still would not upload. I reinstalled the drivers for it with no luck and i even tried to upload the firmware with Mission Planner 2.0 still with no luck every time it gets as far as replugging in the pixhawk and then it stops. I have used to most recent driver files and it still will not work.

Thats close to the error I was getting except that I believe my led was flashing. Did you try the procedure I suggested? If yes, I would delete and reinstall mission planner and then try again. If someone has an android phone, use the usb cable that came with it. That is the cable I use.
before we install firmware on it, we can see that the center led lighthas an orange color.
wen i install the firmware, it says that we have to disconnect the cord, and click ok, then reconnect the cord again.
i followed the instruction. but as i reconnect the usb connector, a dialog box pop up in my status bar. it says failure to install driver.
i guess it's my usbconnector has the problem.
after that i noticed that the there is no orange light on that big circle at the center of the pixhawk.
i've read that wen there's no orange light, it means that there is no available firmware installed in my pixhawk..
can you help me what else can i do
not sure how to make it more clear. I was getting an error after I was prompted by Mission Planner to disconnect the pixhawk and hit OK. I 1) pushed down the reset button and held it down (using a pen tip, reset button is located next to usb port), 2) hit OK on the computer screen, 3) released the reset button. I had no power source connected to the pixhawk and the only thing that was plugged in was the arm button.

I had the same problem. Using the USB cable that came with my android I held down the reset button (next to the USB port), hit OK on the computer screen and then released the reset button.
I had a similar problem.
I switched to a different USB cable and it worked. Seems to me some USB cables are different.
I see there are a few suggestions for solutions already but I will add mine for those that got through all the other suggestions without success like I did. Mines a simple one. CHECK THAT YOU HAVE USED THE RIGHT CABLE FOR THE GPS, I used the wrong one, the arduplane firmware loaded and worked fine but with no gps but the arducopter firmware wouldn't work at all.Changed the cable and all is working as it should do now.

The trick was to press the reset button instead of unplugging the USB, when MP wants to upload.
I had the same problem, and this did it for me. I had also disconnected everything except the switch and buzzer. I just left it connected, hit the OK button, then pushed the FMU reset button. All worked like a charm. Thanks for the hint.
