Using Logs

I just tried my first field test of my my Arducopter 3DR, and my first crash.

The winds were around 10+ mph, so I guess I should have waited for calmer day.

After hovering about 5-6 feet off the ground in stabilize,  I went higher and the copter headed toward the rooftop of a nearby building (mistake#2), I panicked and flipped the mode switch to loiter and the wind pushed it right over the 2 story building.    I quickly cut the throttle with the copter now out of site and found in on the sidewalk a block away.

The damage was less than expected.  1 blade broke, and 3 of the nylon standoffs broke.

The IMU Shield popped off partcially and the battery broke loos.

So while I wait for new parts from the store, I'd like to review the log.

However when I click on Log > KML button under Telemetery logs it starts but never gets past the 50% mark - even overnight.

Any tips?

  • That looks like the live MAV link coming over in flight mode.

You need to have the switch towards the servo headers, then open the serial monitor window in Arduino, you'll see the boot prompt from APM, then type "logs" to get to the log menu, and then "dump all".

Copy that out and paste it into a doc that ends in .log

Then you'll be able to graph it in the planner tool.

The KMZ you had gave me nothing in Earth.

  • dump your log using arduino, then copy and paste it into a .log file.

Then go back and load that in the graphing tool.

I was having problems doing the same thing with 2.0.45 and the planner.

    Works for me now.
